At Ngere Tea Factory, the journey to a perfect cup of tea begins long before the leaf reaches our gates — it starts with the hands and hearts of the farmers.
In the green, mist-covered hills of Murang’a County, over 10,000 smallholder farmers tend to their tea bushes with dedication and pride. Many of these farmers are part of families that have grown tea for generations, passing down not just land, but deep knowledge, care, and respect for the crop. They understand that quality is not a coincidence — it’s a product of daily attention, natural farming methods, and careful harvesting.
Our farmers hand-pluck only the top two leaves and a bud, ensuring each batch begins with the freshest, most tender shoots. This traditional method, combined with the region’s rich volcanic soils and reliable rainfall, produces leaves full of natural flavor and aroma.
Ngere Tea Factory works closely with the farmers through training, support services, and sustainability programs to ensure that both quality and livelihoods continue to grow. Every leaf they deliver is more than just tea — it’s a story of commitment, community, and craft.
